I stumbled onto the words of Norman Vincent Peale recently, and they truly could not have come at a more perfect moment. For those of you who may not be familiar with him, Dr. Peale was not only a minister and author (most notably of The Power of Positive Thinking), but also a forefather and proponent of the theory of positive thinking’s powerful effects on our lives and well-being.
Dr. Peale said, “Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” It seems there can be no better way to start off the week of New Year’s – the most symbolic of New Beginnings – than with a refreshing reminder to set simple, yet bold intentions and/or resolutions!
On a personal note, from time to time in 2013, I struggled to fully embrace my talents, so this nugget of wisdom certainly inspired me! I hope it will also provide you with confidence and clarity as you carve out your special place in the world in the New Year!
Happy Trailblazing!
I have a NVP quote on my fridge: “It’s always too early to quit.”
Do you? Lovely! I enjoyed learning more about him after finding that quote that caught my eye. I’m glad he inspired you, too!
Not sure if my ridiculously long response to the motivation one went through. Let me know if it didn’t.
